This term students in Miss Marley’s Year 10 Advanced Maths class were given the task of analysing raw data regarding cotton exports and production and creating a report based on these statistics. A big thank you must go to the Maths Department for incorporating the Archibull Prize into their unit this Semester and for modifying the assessment task to include cotton!
Introduction: the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry aims to enhance the sustainability, profitability and competitiveness of Australia’s agriculture, food, fisheries and forestry industries. Under the DAFF, the Cotton Research and Development Cooperation began operation. The CRDC invests in a coordinated research and development programme that creates and promotes the adoption of innovation to increase productivity, competitiveness and environmental sustainability that benefits the Australian cotton industry and wider community. The CRDC is accountable to the Australian people through the Australian Government and also to the cotton industry through its legislated representative industry organisation, Cotton Australia Limited. The CRDC have a wealth of statistical information about Australia’s cotton industry and how we compare with other international countries.
